The Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Workshop (BDAI) was successfully held at the Centennial Campus of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) on April 6, 2019. The workshop, which attracted an audience of more than 200 from academia and industry, was supported by the Department of Computer Science of HKU and was organized by a team chaired by Dr Reynold Cheng, an Associate Professor from the same Department.
Professor Christopher Chao, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Professor T.W. Lam, the Head of the Department of Computer Science, graced the workshop with their enlightening opening speeches. Thirteen renowned international speakers from the USA, Europe, Qatar, Japan, Singapore, Mainland China and Hong Kong delivered talks at the workshop which covered a wide range of important areas in Big Data and AI including industry-scale Big Data systems, GeoAI solutions, and Big graph analytics.
This workshop provided a good learning experience in the broad area of AI and Big Data for the participants. The speeches were very engaging, as reflected by intensive interactions between the speakers and the audience. The event was concluded by a cruise banquet at the beautiful Victoria Harbour.
