A BEng(CompSc) final year student, Edward LUI Wui Wang won the First Runner-up at the DreamCatchers MedTech Hackathon HK 2019 with a team named "Alluminate" which comprised of students from Stanford University, CUHK, HKUST and HKU Medicine.
Participants of this event experienced Stanford Biodesign methodologies, design thinking, business model canvas, and worked in interdisciplinary teams to come up with prototypes of sustainable healthcare solutions.
Based on the theme of this year's hackthon on "Innovation for Crowded Hospitals", "Alluminate" came up with an idea on preventing photo-epileptic seizures by detecting harmful light frequencies with computer vision, and blocking them out with electrochromic glasses.
