Professor Siu-Ming YIU discussed LLM Safety in TVB News Magazine programme

Professor Siu-Ming YIU, Associate Director (TPg) of CDS, was recently featured on TVB’s primetime programme News Magazine (《新聞透視》).

The episode explored the potential of misinformation and hallucinations of Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, if not adequately managed. Professor Yiu was interviewed together with his team, Dr Jacob WU and Dr Liam NING, who are both PhD graduates from the Department of Computer Science at HKU and co-founders of Stellaris AI, a spin-off company from the Department which focuses on developing LLMs.

Professor Yiu and his team discussed the safety concerns associated with LLMs, and they introduced their model, Stellaris GPT, which aims to mitigate safety issues by ensuring better privacy and security standards. In the episode, Professor Yiu also emphasised the necessity for rigorous oversight and suggested the idea of regulatory frameworks for AI-generated content (AIGC) technologies.

The episode was aired on 23 November, 2024 at 7:30pm. It can be viewed on the TVB website (LINK).
