Members of the Computer Science Advisory Committee met online on August 27, 2021 to discuss the new academic programmes, BEng(Data Science & Engineering) & MSc(Financial Technology & Data Analytics) that will be launched by the Department in September 2022. Our Head of Department, Professor T.W. Lam also took this opportunity to share with the advisors about the updates and latest development of the Department.
Earlier in the same week on August 24, 2021, the Quantum Advisory Board also met online. The meeting started with an overview of the achievements of the Quantum Information and Computation Initiative (QICI) since its establishment in Fall 2018. QICI Director, Professor Giulio Chiribella presented the overview and pointed out current and future projects at QICI. The Advisory Board Members then provided suggestions on future hires, highlighted possible synergies with industry, and offered advice on the development of the Joint HKU-Oxford Centre for Quantum Information and Computation recently established in the QICI framework.
