Professor Yizhou Yu has recently been named a Distinguished Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) in recognition of his outstanding scientific contributions to computing, and he is also elevated to IEEE Fellow of Class 2019 by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Board of Directors for his contributions to geometric and image-based modeling .
ACM is the world's largest and most prestigious association of computing professionals. This is an important honor as the ACM Distinguished Member program recognizes up to 10 percent of ACM worldwide membership based on professional experience as well as significant achievements in the computing field.
IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. Each year, less than 0.1% of voting members are selected through a rigorous evaluation procedure for this member grade elevation. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership in IEEE and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.
