A collaboration agreement was signed between the Center for Information Security and Cryptography (CISC) of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Shandong Academy of Sciences (SDAS) on August 7, 2018 for setting up a joint laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Security. The signing ceremony was graced by Professor Andy Hor, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research); Professor T.W. Lam, Head of the Department of Computer Science of HKU; PI and Co-PI of the project, Dr. K.P. Chow and Dr. S.M. Yiu; other colleagues of the CS Department including Professor Francis Chin and Dr. John Yuen; SDAS representatives incluing Professor Yinglong Wang, Secretary of the Party Committee of SADS; Professor Meiqin Wang, Special Professor of Shandong Computer Science Center (National Supercomputer Center in Jinan); and Professor Minglei Shu, Leader of information medicine team of Shandong Computer Science Center (National Supercomputer Center in Jinan). An old friend of the CS Department, Dr Lucas Hui, Senior Director, Security and Data Sciences at Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), also joined the ceremony.
In view of the national and social demands of artificial intelligence and big data security, the collaboration and the setting up of this joint laboratory will enhance the competitiveness of both parties in making significant contributions to the field.
